County Supports Troy Road Project

By Randy Pierce

In support of a roundabout to be constructed at the intersection of Illinois Route 162 and Old Troy Road, the Madison County Board has approved funding in an amount of $266,400 from its matching tax fund.

The project, involving a partnership between the county, the City of Troy and the Illinois Department of Transportation, will consist of reconstructing the existing intersection plus the addition of concrete islands, striping, signage and other details necessary to complete the work in accordance with the plans approved by the participating entities.

Per a resolution approved unanimously by the Madison County Board at its most recent meeting, federal funding will help pay for a share of the cost.
