Triad volleyball coach Jami Parker described senior Abby Kesterson as, “an absolute building block and foundation for our program over the last four years.”

Now after receiving Kesterson’s commitment, SWIC volleyball is hoping she can do the same as part of the Blue Storm.

The Lady Knight discussed her criteria for choosing SWIC, “It’s local to home. I’ve known their coach for quite awhile.”

Affiliated with the NJCAA, SWIC is also a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. Kaskaskia and Rend Lake are among their seven league foes.

The Belleville-based program is fresh off of a 28-10 season and winning seven of their final nine contests.

“I’ve always been in love with the sport of volleyball,” Kesterson said during her signing day.

As a Lady Knight, Kesterson helped lead a youthful squad to 14 wins last season. The last of those victories came in the postseason against Highland, where the recent signee delivered 15 serves to end a 17 game winless streak to the rival Bulldogs.

Kesterson gave thanks to, “My mom, Alyssa Zimmerman and all of the coaches who helped me learn the sport.”
