Madison County state’s attorneys have charged a Collinsville man with animal torture and animal cruelty after he allegedly stabbed a dog multiple times and left her to suffer.
Carlos Romero Lopez, 23, was charged Dec. 30 and bail was set at $43,000 according to a charging document filed in Madison County Circuit Court. It is not known if he has an attorney to speak on his behalf and a court date was not available at press time.
According to the charging document, Lopez is accused of intentionally stabbing a mix-breed dog named Honey multiple times in her head and body. The injuries caused the dog to lose her left eye and suffer extreme physical pain.
