Collinsville man charged with animal torture

Madison County state’s attorneys have charged a Collinsville man with animal torture and animal cruelty after he allegedly stabbed a dog multiple times and left her to suffer.
Carlos Romero Lopez, 23, was charged Dec. 30 and bail was set at $43,000 according to a charging document filed in Madison County Circuit Court. It is not known if he has an attorney to speak on his behalf and a court date was not available at press time.
According to the charging document, Lopez is accused of intentionally stabbing a mix-breed dog named Honey multiple times in her head and body. The injuries caused the dog to lose her left eye and suffer extreme physical pain.
Lopez failed to provide any care or treatment for the injuries, according to the document.
