Kahok grapplers fall to West

It was a light week on the mats for Collinsville High. In their only match they fell to Belleville West 49-30.
On Thursday January 12th, we lost to the Belleville West Maroons 30-49.
“While we are not happy that we lost the dual, I saw a lot of positives in all of my wrestlers,” said CHS coach Jordan May. “It takes a lot of courage to go out and wrestle somebody in front of a crowd. Win or lose, I am always proud of my team. However, after each loss we must go back to the drawing board and prepare for regionals.”
For CHS, Cameron Minner won his 120 pound match over Goodwine via pinfall at one minute 41 seconds.
Stephen Stewart defeated Hum at 145 pounds via pinfall in 1 minute 44 seconds.
Kahok Cody Lutz came back from an early 5-1 deficit and defeated Hofmeister via pin fall in the third period.
At 220 pounds Devin Habermehl defeated Matthews via pinfall at 5:41 after a back and forth battle.
“Habermehl’s conditioning and heart played a huge role in his victory,” said May.
