Maryville Fire gets equipment boost from board

The Maryville Fire Department will benefit from approvals made at the Wednesday, Jan. 18 meeting of the Maryville Village Board. The board approved the purchase of six Apple iPad Pros for department use. Cost will be $6,599.94 from AT&T National Business.  

The board also approved the purchase of a Braskey Forcible Entry door and Crush Prop from Baskey Products, LLC at a cost of $7,500 as well as two TFT apparatus ball intake valves from Sentinel Emergency Solutions at a cost of $4,037.  

Finally, the Board approved upgrades to communications equipment for the fire department. They will purchase five Motorola AP Vehicle Portable Radio Chargers from Leavitt Communications at a cost of $1,840. They will also be purchasing a Motorola APX Bank Portable Radio Charger from the same vendor at a cost of $985.

In other business, the Village Board approved two ordinances for Water and Pre-Annexation Agreements.  Both are for properties located on Bliss Terrace in Collinsville.  

Two payments for the Water Treatment Plant Improvements project were authorized for Korte & Luitjohan Construction. This included the fourth pay application totaling $125,859.24 and a change order in the amount of $3,305.82.  

The Board authorized attendance of Captain Doug Dankenbring of the Maryville Fire Department at the Rope Rescue Operations Level 1 Training. The training will take place in Champaign from March 20 through 24. Authorization was for travel, lodging and meals not to exceed $1,000.

The Village’s Discovery Series program is underway. Residents are encouraged to check out the Village website for details. The next event will be Feb. 5 from 1 to 3 and will be a painting session. There is limited space so the series requires pre-registration and a $25 per person registration fee.  

Another Discovery Series class will be held on February 19. The topic will be Beneficial Bugs for Gardens.  

The next meeting of the Board will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
