Collinsville High School alum Ray’Sean Taylor continues to see success on the men’s basketball hardwood for SIUE.
The 2020 CHS grad had a huge week last week helping the Cougars win two Ohio Valley conference games to snap a four game losing streak. They pushed SIUE back toward the top of the league standings.
The wins pushed SIUE back toward the top of the league standings and into a three-way tie for third place at 7-5 in OVC play and 16-9 overall. Tennessee-Martin and Tennessee Tech have the same conference mark.
Saturday afternoon Taylor hit a buzzer-beater from just beyond half court that lit up social media and gave the Cougars an 84-81 win at Little Rock.
He had 21 points, six rebounds and two assists in the game.
On Feb. 2 Taylor had a huge game as SIUE took down UT-Martin at home 89-75.
The former Kahok had a double-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
It was the second time this year he has hit a game winner. He also hit the winning shot late in the huge 69-67 upset win at Saint Louis on Dec. 21.
Last season Taylor hit a long three to beat Youngstown State 69-66 on Nov. 21, 2021.
Back to this season. He is averaging 15.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
He had a career-high 30 points back on Jan. 26 during an 80-68 loss at Tennessee Tech.
