Stuart hosting two local events

By Randy Pierce

Illinois 112th District State Representative Katie Stuart is hosting a pair of events in this area before the end of February to meet with constituents and gather their input.

The first will be at the Caseyville Public Library from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 16, when she will be joined by a representative of the Illinois attorney general’s office to provide advice concerning how seniors can protect themselves from scams, fraud and abuse.

The Caseyville Public Library is located at 419 South Second Street, a few blocks west of Illinois Route 157.

On Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Stuart is hosting “Coffee with Katie” at the Verona Coffee Company, 101A East Main Street in Collinsville. At this event, she will be responding to questions or comments anyone may have about matters regarding the state legislature.

Stuart has been appointed as the assistant floor whip for the state legislature Democratic Caucus for the 103rd General Assembly which began its deliberations earlier this month and is continuing in her role as chair of its higher education committee.

Her 112th legislative district includes much of Collinsville, including State Park Place, parts of Maryville and Glen Carbon and extends further south to take in Caseyville and the northwestern part of Fairview Heights, along with covering a significant portion of Edwardsville.
