Two county committees meet today

Two committees of the Madison County Board, one chaired by Chris Guy of Maryville and the other by Dalton Gray of Troy, will be meeting this evening, Feb. 9, at the county government building at 157 North Main Street in Edwardsville.
At 4 p.m. the finance, government operations and education committee, with Guy as chairman, will be meeting, then an hour later, Gray’s personnel and labor relations committee will convene.
The finance, government operations and education committee is responsible for overseeing the county’s support services, employee safety and risk management, its assessment office, acting as liaison with the county auditor, clerk, recorder, treasurer and board of review, working with county departments and elected officials to manage the real estate tax cycle, approving or recommending worker’s compensation and general liability settlements, property and stop loss insurance coverage, delinquent tax properties, matters concerning the budget and tax levy, consideration of formal bids related to purchases and expenditures.
Other members of that committee include Gray, Ryan Kneedler of Collinsville, Mike Babcock, Robert Pollard, Mike Turner, Robert “Bob” Meyer, Mick Madison and John Janek.
The personnel and labor relations committee handles matters related to those two aspects of its title, health benefits, stop loss life insurance coverage, other benefit programs, employee grievances and additional pertinent topics related to employee functions.
Other members of this committee include Guy, Janek, Turner, Michael “Doc” Holliday, Victor Valentine and Valerie Doucleff.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Madison County Board will be Wednesday, February 15, at 5 p.m.
