Patricia A. Stephenson

Patricia A. Stephenson, age 76, of Maryville, Illinois, passed away after a brief illness on February 22, 2023.  

Pat was born in Parsons, Kansas on October 21, 1946, the eldest daughter of Leonard and Vera (Richardson) Aronhalt.  After graduation from high school, she attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas, and in 1996 completed a bachelor’s of arts degree at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to John (Jack) Stephenson on July 2, 1966.  They then moved to Lawrence, Kansas where Jack completed his college education.  Pat worked at Hallmark Cards while in Lawrence.  Pat and Jack moved to El Dorado, Kansas following Jack’s graduation from college.  Pat’s primary focus was on family but also worked at the Council for Special Services and the First Baptist Church Day Care while residing in El Dorado. Following Jack’s retirement, they moved to Maryville, Illinois.  Pat worked for a time at the Maryville YMCA, involved with the YMCA before- and after-school latch key program for children.  Mr. Stehpenson survives of the home.  

Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maryville.  She was active in PEO and was very involved with making her own greeting cards. 

In addition to her husband Jack, she is survived by one son – Greg Stephenson of Terre Haute, Indiana; five grandchildren and her sister Donna McDonough of Bellevue, Nebraska,.  She was preceded in death by one daughter Jennifer Lynn Hauser.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 3, 2023 at the CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME with Pat McReynolds officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time Friday.  Memorials are suggested to the Parsons Area Community Foundation and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O.
