Continuing the strong day in underclassmen events, the Knights finished third in the freshman-sophomore 4×200. The team of Lightner, Dempsey, Harmon and Lafrance combined for a time of 1:39.88 to best 21 other teams in the race.
In the field events, both Parker Friedrich and Jason Randoll earned fourth place honors. Friedrich cleared 11’ 6” in the pole vault and Randoll reached 5.93 meters in the long jump.
Junior Drew Pace also finished in fourth place, competing in the 1600 meter. He completed the eight lap race in 4:48.30.
Another fourth place finish for the Knights came in the underclassmen 60 meter. Owen Lightner sped through that race in 7.40.
Triad’s highest finishing in throwing events came in the shot put courtesy of Zach Van Tiegham. The junior’s best toss measured 13.15 meters.
A time of 9.43 seconds from sophomore Trent Harmon gave the hosts another sixth place finish. Harmon achieved this mark in the underclassmen 60 meter hurdles.
The Knights claimed seventh place in three events, including the 4×800 relay. Twyman, Pace, Mersinger and Metcalf teamed up for a time of 8:58.72, finishing just 0.99 seconds behind fifth place.
Sophomores Ian Dempsey and Sam Kuckuck were the team’s other seventh place finishers. Dempsey leaped 5.79 meters in the long jump and Kuckcuck ran an 11:10.33 3200 meter.
