Lady Knights track takes sixteenth at EIU

As the indoor track and field season draws on, Triad’s girls squad added a sixteenth place finish to their resume. This top-twenty finish came at the Mar. 3 Eastern Illinois University meet.
The Lady Knights finished with a total of 11 team points, tying them with Robinson and St. Thomas More.
Highlighting Triad’s day was a fifth place finish in the 4×800 relay. The team of Gough, Niehaus, James and Bowman teamed up for a time of 10:45.47 for the four point placement.
Senior Abby Kesterson earned the team’s highest individual finish in the shot put. Kesterson’s best launch measured 9.70 meters and shot her into sixth overall.
The Lady Knights’ best individual finish on the track came in the 1600 meter. Kennedy Bowman represented Triad with a seventh place finish in said race after recording a tie of 5:36.91.
Also scoring for the sixteenth place finishers was the 4×200 relay squad of Cissell, Witham, Scharden and Brown. That quartet finished in 1:56.08 and took home eighth place honors.
Riley Cissell also finished in eighth place at the meet. She did so thanks to a time of 8.25 in the 60 meter dash.
Three Lady Knights would miss scoring by one place and finish in ninth. This list included Chloe Gough’s 400 meter dash time of 1:06.63, Lyla Hoffstot 60 meter hurdles mark of 10.71 and freshman Morgan Mason running a 12:42.51 3200 meter.
