Triad finishes third at Eastern Illinois meet

In a field of over 40 teams, Triad’s boys track and field unit finished third overall at last weekend’s Eastern Illinois University indoor meet. The Knights finished the Mar. 4 meet with 37 team points and trailed second place Catlin by one point.
Tashon Crockarell secured the team’s highest finish of the event, taking second place in the high jump. The junior standout cleared a height of 1.92 meters and earned eight points.
Another top three finish for the Knights came in the 3200 meter. Upperclassmen Drew Pace clocked in at 10:14.81 to earn six more points from third place.
Triad finished fourth in three events, including senior Jason Randoll’s performance in the long jump. His mark of 5.76 meters tied for third and was just 0.01 meters away from second place.
Crockarell added another individual scoring finish after taking fourth in the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.12. Sophomore Louis Yohannes matched his placement with an 8.91 time in the 60 meter hurdles race.
The 60 meter dash provided another scoring finish for Triad, as Tristan Darby took fifth place. The senior finished in 7.13, finishing 0.01 seconds behind Crockarell.
The best Knight relay of the meet was the 4×200, which landed in seventh. Finishing the four lap race in 1:38.06 was the quartet of Crockarell, Warren, Lightner and Hard.
Finishing in eighth place in the pole vault, Parker Friedrich added another point to Triad’s total after clearing a height of 3.49 meters. Drew Twyman matched his point total with a time of 4:49.15 in the 1600 meter run.
