As a two-time state champion, Gabbie Wood already has quite a soccer resume.
Now, the Triad senior can officially add signing to a college team to her list of accomplishments after committing to Missouri Baptist recently.
The Lady Knight broke down her decision to join the Spartans, “I’ve grown up in a Christian home. The campus was really pretty and I fell in love with it.”
As a Spartan, Wood will be competing in the NAIA and in the American Midwest Conference. Other league members include Columbia College and William Woods University.
While her senior campaign at Triad has not begun yet, Wood has already tallied 22 goals and eight assists across two championship campaigns. The talented forward has also delivered five game winning goals in the Lady Knight’s last 49 victories.
Missouri-Baptist has plenty of success of their own in recent history. In the fall, the Spartans soccer team finished 12-5-2 overall and 7-1 in league play.
“I’ve dreamed about this for a long time, back to when I was just six,” the future Spartan said of her opportunity to play collegiate soccer.
In the classroom, Wood plans to study biology on her path to medical school.
The recent signee gave thanks to, “My family, friends and coaches for helping me to get where I am.”
