Two men from Troy are seeking election to a six-year term on the board of trustees for Southwestern Illinois College District 522 as representative of its sub-district 7.
Those individuals are Allen Adomite of 500 Lakewood Drive and Dave Tippit of 31 Sequoia Drive. They are listed on the ballot for the April 4 consolidated election as candidates to fill a seat being vacated by Sara Soehlke, an assistant principal at Dorris Intermediate School in Collinsville, whose term that began in 2019 is expiring.
SWIC, offering a two-year curriculum and operating campuses in Belleville, Granite City and Red Bud in Monroe County, has seven members on its board of trustees, each representing a separate sub-district, and one student members who is elected by his or her fellow classmates and whose votes are only considered to be advisory in nature.
Another school district included in the upcoming election is Collinsville Community Unit 10 where six candidates are running for four open seats of four-year terms each on its board of education.
Four of those individuals are incumbents, Dennis Craft of 3 Oxford Court, Vicki Ruelecke of 308 OFarrell Street, Jane Soehlke of 808 St. Joseph Drive and Michele S. Stutts of 114 Shadow Crossing, all in Collinsville.
Ruelecke and Stutts have served on the Unit 10 board since 2019 while Craft was first elected in 2015 and Soehlke in 2011.
They are being challenged by two residents of Maryville, Michael Aden of 2713 Deerfield Drive and Derek Allen Whitener of 7526 Stonebridge Golf Drive.
