Triad boys track and field ran and jumped their way to a tenth place finish at last week’s Gene Armer Invite. The Knights totaled 21 points at the University of Illinois Meet that featured 38 scoring teams.
Their most impressive result of the day came from the 4×200 relay quartet of Yohannes, Crockarell, Warren and Lightner. They clocked in at 1:34.14 for a school indoor record and to take first place in a field of 36 relay teams.
Sophomore Louis Yohannes added another impressive mark by taking third place in the 60 meter hurdles. His time of 8.71 was bested only by senior hurdlers.
Also scoring outside of the 4×200 race was junior Tashon Crockarell, who finished seventh in the high jump. Crockarell’s best height was 5’ 10.5”.
Drew Twyman, a sophomore, also tacked on a seventh place finish. The underclassmen finished the 1600 meter in just 4:45.57 for his scoring finish.
Closing out the team’s scoring finishes, senior Tristan Darby finished eighth place in the 60 meter dash. He reached the finals after clocking in at 7.21 and ran 7.20 in the later race.
Both Cory Warren and Jason Randoll checked in at thirteenth place in the 200 meter and long jump, respectively. Warren ran a 24.08 time and Randoll launched 18’ 8.75” in the sand pit.
Senior Jaylun Nelson added on another impressive finish after taking fourteenth place off of a 42’ 9” toss in the shot put.
