Lady Knights finish top five at Illinois Meet

Competing against a mix of top teams around the state of Illinois, Lady Knights track and field fought their way into fifth place at the Mar. 18 Gene Armer Invite. Triad finished with 37 points in a field of more than 30 teams.
Sophomore Makenna Witham led the way after winning the high jump in dominant fashion. The underclassmen cleared a height of 5’ 5.75”, over three inches better than any of her competitors.
Fellow sophomore standout Kennedy Bowman contributed more Triad points from the 1600 meter. The distance runner clocked in at 5:31.48 and finished just 0.22 seconds away from second place.
Also finishing in third place was the Lady Knight 4×800 relay team that clocked in at 10:39.61. This team consisted of Gough, Niehaus, James and Bowman.
In another relay, the 4×200, Triad battled their way into fifth place. The squad of Cissell, Schardan, Brown and Witham clocked in at 1:53.77.
Freshman Morgan Mason provided another impressive finish to Triad’s day after clocking in at 12:36.81 in the 3200 meter. This placed Mason fifth overall.
Junior Riley Cissell also secured a fifth place finish, doing so in the pole vault. The third-year Lady Knight cleared a best height of 9’ 2.25”.
Other notable finishes for Triad include Chloe Gough taking ninth in the 400 meter at 1:05.65 and Jaden Brown taking eleventh place after a 28.70 meter 200 meter. Inara Smith added a twelfth place finish after a 11.16 60 meter hurdle time and Kelsie DiRosa matched her placement with a 28’ 2.25” mark in the triple jump.
