Dankenbring named Interim Maryville Fire Chief

The Village of Maryville Board of Trustees on Wednesday, Apr. 5 approved the appointment of Doug Dankenbring to the position of Interim Fire Chief. The appointment comes on the heels of the resignation of former Chief George May. Dankenbring’s appointment began March 27.
In other fire department news, the Board also approved the attendance of firefighter Derek Chancy at the Hazardous Materials Operation Course. The course will be held on Apr. 15 and 16 and Apr. 22 and 23 in Charleston, Illinois. Total cost of the training is not to exceed $700.
The Board approved the bid of Kamadulski Excavating and Grading Company of $307,088 for the bank stabilization project at the Village Water Department. Kamadulski presented the low bid for the project.
The Board also approved an amendment to the Village Code of Ordinances. The amendment addresses business license timelines in the Village. Going forward all business licenses will be due on June 1 and expire on May 31 for the $25 fee.
Department heads presented staff reports and statistics for the month of March. Building and zoning reported that 21 permits were issued in the month for a valuation of $40,000.
The fire department reported 93 call outs during the month. Of those 86 were EMS calls. The remainder included a structure fire, a vehicle fire and one motor vehicle accident.
The police department responded to 803 calls for service. They issued 196 citations and responded to 5 accidents.
The next meeting of the Board will be held on Wednesday, Apr. 19 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
