The Village of Maryville Board on Wednesday, Apr. 19, approved the probationary hiring of John Miller as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the Village. Miller was sworn in at the conclusion of the meeting and received his badge from Interim Chief Dankenbring.
The board also received a letter of resignation from full time Firefighter/Paramedic Jason Pugh. His resignation is effective May 8.
In other business the Board approved an ordinance that changes the plumbing inspection fee rates for the Village. Effective with approval, the rates will be $120 for a new construction, $80 for a repair or renovation, and $50 if a re-inspection is necessary.
The Board also approved a resolution that authorized the demolition of the property at 609 Johnny Drive. The property was designated uninhabitable.
The Mayor and Board members will attend the 2023 Congressional Prayer Breakfast. The event will be held on May 8.
Actions were taken to move forward on the 2023 street repair program. The resolution appropriating $425,000 in Motor Fuel Tax funds was approved. In addition, the Board approved the 2023/24 maintenance program for the village that will be paid for by the MFT funds.
Finally, the Board approved the purchase of a 60” mower for the Water Department. The mower will be purchased from Marine Mower & Saw, Inc. at a cost of $7,541.
The Village Farmers’ Markets begin Saturday, Apr. 22. The market runs each Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. It features local artisans, vegetables and fruits in season, plants for early Spring planting, refreshments, baked goods along with activities for the entire family.
The next meeting of the Board will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m.
