Low temperatures and wind gusts made for a challenging day at Edwardsville’s Winston Brown Invitational.

Among Triad’s top finishes was the 4×800 relay squad, who finished in 8:43.83 for fourth overall. This unit consisted of Twyman, Mersinger, Venhaus and Pace.
Parker Friedrich secured another fourth place finish for the Knights in the pole vault. The junior cleared a new personal height of 3.85 meters, which neared the state qualifying mark of 3.96 meters.
Drew Twyman added another top five finish to his day after taking fifth in the 1600 meter. His time of 4:43.71 was the fastest among sophomores at the invite.
Hard, Lightner, Coleman and Dempsey teamed up to score another fifth place finish from the underclassmen 4×100 relay. This lineup of freshmen and sophomores found the finish in 47.11 seconds.
In the shortest race of the meet, Tristan Darby clocked in at 11.478 seconds in the 100 meter dash. The senior’s time tied him for sixth place overall.
Louis Yohannes provided another sixth place finish from the 110 meter hurdles. The second year runner finished the race in 16.06 seconds.
Thrower Zach Van Tieghem finished the meet with two individual medals at the Edwardsville-hosted event. His best finish was seventh place in the shot put with a toss of 13.86 meters and he also took eighth in the discus with a throw of 38.43 meters.
The Knights closed out the meet by taking eighth place in the final event of the day: the 4×400 relay. Winslow, Mersinger, Venhaus and Schmidt ran a time of 3:56.92 to secure that medal.
