Troy Police on Friday will be staking out Dunkin’ Donuts at 809 Edwardsville Road in Troy, as part of the 2023 Cop on Rooftop fundraiser for the Special Olympics.

Officers will be present at that location from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m. selling merchandise and accepting donations, all to benefit the athletes. For a donation of $100 or more, officers will deliver a box of donuts to your location.

Troy Police Officer Jennifer Hautly serves as the agency’s liaison for the Special Olympics and says the name of the event is an accurate description.

“These officers will be standing on top of the roof,” Hautley said. “They will have megaphones and air horns and we will be waving to the public.”

The agency has been taking part in the annual event since 2013. Troy Police and law enforcement agencies across the nation have supported the Special Olympics for many years through this event and the annual Torch Run.

“We raise money for other programs as well, such as Shop WIth a Cop,” Interim Chief Chris Wasser said. “We try to do as much as we can to support the entire community and the Special Olympics is near and dear to our hearts.”
