Maylene J. Harris

Maylene J. Harris, 89, of Troy, IL, born Tuesday, June 13, 1933 in East St. Louis, IL and passed away peacefully at her home on May 6, 2023 surrounded by her family. 

Maylene enjoyed playing piano for her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as playing for church services on Sunday morning at Troy Christian Church.  She was always ready for a Dairy Queen Strawberry Sundae, playing word search and a good yard sale.  Maylene loved her family and the times they were able to spend together.  She enjoyed her puppy Minnie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Harris; her grandchildren, Dyan and Jennifer; her parents, William and Mildred (nee Lauerman) Phillips; and a sister Merna Crawford.

Surviving are her children, Charles (Janet) Harris of Godfrey, IL, William (Kathy) Harris of Greenville, IL, Charlene (Mike) Elkins of Sorento, IL, Daryl Harris of Sorento, IL, Craig Harris of Troy, IL, Cheryl “Chicks” (Greg) Eaton of Troy, IL and Bryan (Lisa) Harris of Cicero, IL; 30 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Gloria Dennison of Godfrey, IL; brother-in-law, Roy (Joann) Harris of Collinsville, IL; sister-in-law, Shirley (Dennis) Strake of New Baden, IL; her aunt Ruth Nance of Belleville, IL; her nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:45 on Friday, May 19 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL.  Interment will be in Jefferson barrack national Cemetery, St. Louis, MO
