An Ohio man and an Oklahoma man are facing felony drug charges in Madison County following an arrest by Troy Police that netted more than a pound of illicit cannabis and a small amount of methamphetamine.
Madison County State’s Attorneys have charged Darreel R. Santos, 49, of Blooingburg, Ohio and Jeremy L. Rocha, 44, of Weleetka, Okla., each with unlawful possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
Both were arrested on warrants and bail was set at $75,000. Court records show at press time Santos is still in custody and Rocha has posted bond.
Troy Police arrest reports show on the afternoon of May 20 officers saw a vehicle travel through and stop at several different business parking lots, which they found suspicious. The car also had a headlight out and out-of-state plates.
Police stopped the vehicle and learned the driver, Santos, did not have a license. They asked if he had any weapons or drugs, which he replied no. Police then asked to search the car, which the occupants agreed to, according to the report.
In the trunk, officers found three bags of cannabis. The total weight of the three bags was about 730 grams or 1.6 pounds. Officers also found a bag containing less than a gram of meth.
Police asked the suspects who the drugs belonged to and they declined to say. Both were taken to Madison County Jail on a felony hold pending issuance of a warrant.
Trial dates have not been set.
