Samuel Joseph Millatti

Samuel Joseph Millatti, age 83 of Troy, IL, born August 26, 1939 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. 

Sam was a 1957 Cahokia High School graduate.  He retired from Granite City Steel after 40 years of service.  He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was a member of Jarvis Township Seniors, Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, and past coach of the Cahokia Quarterback Club.  He enjoyed golfing and playing poker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Louise (nee Monterosso) Millatti; seven siblings:  Cosimo (Jesse) Millatti, Mamie (Bill) Beers, Catherine (Richard) Ballard, Frances (Leo) Johnston, Ross (Sandra) Millatti, Marie (Ray) Paver, and Eva (Ronald) Heiman.

Surviving are his loving wife, Carol (nee Flinn) Millatti, whom he married April 1, 1961; a son, Michael (Bev) Millatti of Troy, IL; a daughter, Lisa (Jim) Chadduck of Waterloo, IL; three grandchildren:  David (Sarah) Inman, Anthony Millatti, and Amanda Inman; seven great-grandchildren:  Trenton Inman, Lilly Inman, Sophia Millatti, Audrey Weigel, Payton Inman, Easton Inman and Sam Inman; one great-great-grandson, Michael Joseph Inman; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the funeral home.  Burial with military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
