BBQ program held at Tri-Township Public Library
Tri-Township Public Library is offering a Kooking with Kathy series. The first in the series was “How to Plan Your BBQ Party ” held on Saturday June 24th.
These events are sponsored by The Friends of the Library. Attendees learned about the different ways to BBQ, types of seasoning methods and the various items that you can grill for a BBQ. Everything from appetizers to dessert was cooked on the grill.
Everyone enjoyed making their own BBQ rub out of a variety of spices that they could take home and use on their next BBQ. They also learned how to make a simple BBQ sauce using ketchup and took home a bottle. Best of all, they enjoyed eating grilled jalapeno poppers, potatoes, brussel sprouts in curry butter, wings (bourbon peach & caramelized onion butter), pork tenderloin marinated in soy sauce and beef mock tenderloin marinated in red wine followed by grilled peaches and strawberries using simple syrup and chocolate balsamic vinegar.
Come join us on July 18th for the next installment: Home Canning and Preserving 101. You will learn how to preserve spaghetti sauce and salsa using all of those home grown ingredients!
