Collinsville PD searching for armed robbery suspect

Collinsville Police are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery that happened about 5:38 p.m. Thursday near the Club Fitness located at 571 Belt Line Road.

In a news release, police said officers arrived on the scene where they met the victim and observed that he had been beaten and his cell phone taken. The victim told police that he was attacked from behind while getting into his car that was parked near Club Fitness.

After being struck in the back of the head, the suspect took the victim’s phone as it fell onto the ground, according to the release. The victim had no serious injuries. 

The suspect is said to be a Latino man about 5-feet 8-inches tall and believed to be in 30s. Police said the suspect was last seen getting into a white panel-type van.
