Triad announces free and reduced lunch guidelines
Triad Community Unit School District No. 2 has announced its policy for the upcoming year for free and reduced cost federal lunch programs.
The guidelines apply to families facing economic barriers who receive meals under the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program and the Special Milk Program. A table of the income guidelines accompanies this article. If a household meets the income guidelines in the table, children are eligible.
The district is currently in the process of sending applications to all households with attending students. Only one application is needed per household. The application must be signed and returned to the district. The application process can also be completed online at: (skyward.iscorp.com/TriadCSD2ILStuSTS/Session/Signin?area=Home&controller=Home&action=Index)
In the application, households must provide the names of all household members, last four digits of the social security number of the adult signing the application, the amount of income each household member received the last month, pay frequency and source of income.
While meals must meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, children with disabilities or medical conditions can receive substitutions prescribed by a physician. There is no extra charge for the meals if a substitution is required.
The district encourages anyone with questions to contact them directly.
SNAP/TANF households – If the school provided a letter that stated your children are eligible for free meals via the direct certification process, you do not have to complete the application to receive meal benefits. Households that receive SNAP/TANF only have to list children’s’ names and case number. If at least one case number is listed, all children listed on the application can receive meals.
Households may apply at any time during the year. Homeless, migrant, Head Start, foster care children and runaway youth are categorically eligible. Households who are denied have the right to a hearing and can contact District Superintendent Jason Henderson at 618-667-5400 or 203 East Throp Street, Troy, Illinois, 62294.
