Alva Mae Barbarotto

Alva Mae Barbarotto, age 88 of Maryville, IL, born July 22, 1935 in Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Alva was a retired bookkeeper having worked for the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Jaffe Lighting for 32 years, and the IRS for 10 years.  She had served as President for the Madison County Precinct Committee Women’s Association.   

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Martha (nee Swapka) Wille; and six siblings:  Dorothy, Ed, Ted, Betty, Elmer and Dwain.

 Surviving are her beloved husband of 62 years, Anthony Barbarotto, Sr., whom she married May 6, 1961; three sons:  Anthony II (Sherry) Barbarotto of Maryville, Michael Barbarotto of Maryville, and Steven Barbarotto of Collinsville; two daughters:  Michele (Mark) Rhoads of Maryville, and Fara (Jeff) Uchitjil of Maryville; nine grandchildren:  AJ (Clarissa Burcham) Barbarotto, Derrek (Jennifer) Barbarotto, Danielle (Jordan) Pickens, Savannah Barbarotto, Gabrielle Barbarotto, Brixanna Barbarotto, Nathan Rhoads, Mark II (Darby Higginbotham) Rhoads, Courtney (Randy Evans) Rhoads; eight great-grandchildren:  Hayden, Carter, Harper, Hudson, Sophia, Josephine, Zander, and Donovan; a brother, Roger Wille of OR; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to The National Kidney Foundation or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
