A shooting at a home in Troy early Tuesday left one woman dead and resulted in the arrest of a man on the scene.

According to Troy Police Chief Chris Wasser, police responded to 2146 Tramore 4:40 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a call that a shooting had just occurred there.

Wasser said that when officers arrived, a man was standing at the front door with his hands up. He was immediately put into handcuffs and arrested.

Troy officers searched the home and found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began life-saving efforts until Troy EMS arrived. However, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the subjects had not been released by print deadlines Tuesday, pending charges and next-of-kin notification. Wasser said he hoped charges would be filed by Wednesday morning.

“There is no ongoing public safety concern,” Wasser said. “A suspect has been identified and in custody. We are grateful for a quick resolution to this incident.”

Troy police were also assisted on the scene by the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
