Brandon J. “BJ” Thomason

Brandon J. “BJ” Thomason, 44, of Troy, IL, was born May 30, 1979 in Danville, IL and passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at St. Louis University Medical Center, St. Louis, MO. 
He graduated from Bismarck Henning High School in 1997 and then attended Danville Area Community College. He received his degree in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University in 2002. Brandon was a Youth and Family Specialist with the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. He created an immeasurable impact on the youth he worked with. 
Brandon married the love of his life Kelly (nee Jennings) Thomason of Troy, IL on November 22, 2003. He is the proud father of Silas, Gavin, and Caleb. He loved supporting them in their many athletics and activities. Brandon enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He liked listening to live music, barbecuing, watching movies, working out and traveling. 
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Diane (nee Goodner) Thomason.
Surviving are his father, Ralph G. Thomason of Bismarck, IL; brothers, Ryan G. (Heidi Holzinger) of Highland, IL, Darrin (Karrie) Thomason of Lucas, TX; his sister, Suzanne Thomason of Georgetown, IL; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Nancy Jennings of Edwardsville, IL; brother-in-law, Bryan (Sarah) Jennings of Boise, ID; sister-in-law, Pamela (Eric) Decossas of Frisco, TX; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation for Brandon will be held 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, September 17, and 10 to 11 am on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL with Rev. Miles Clark officiating.  Interment in Friedens Cemetery, Troy, IL.
