Margaret M. Dodson

Margaret M. Dodson, 83, of Swansea, IL, born Monday, January 29, 1940 in East St. Louis, IL and passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Margaret attended the First Baptist Church of Fairview Heights.  She was the manager of Seidels Apparel Co. in East St. Louis until It closed and then worked with and retired from Southern Illinois Visiting Nurses Association (SIVNA) as a case worker and in customer care.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved adored her fur baby “Beauty”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Verne A. “Buddy” Dodson; her son, Shawn E. Dodson; parents, Palmer and Lucille (nee Richeson) Kemp; sisters, Doris Kemp, Betty Shadwick, Joyce Holleman, Delores Crowley and Shirley Rule; sisters -in-law, Georgia Kemp and Thelma Girard; granddaughter, Kelsey Johnson.

Surviving are her sons, Kerry Dodson of Swansea and Todd (Robin) Dodson of Troy, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher and Brandi Dodson and Holli Johnson; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Tucker, Nolan and Neeley Dodson; her brothers, Sam (Sherry) Kemp of New Baden, IL and Palmer (Jo Ann) Kemp of Edwardsville, IL; her brother-in-law, Charles Rule of Benton, AR; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Thursday, September, 14, 2023 at RICHESON FUNERAL HOME, Troy, IL.  Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
