Taco Fest To Returns To Marine 2024

Stephanie Malench

The Marine Village Board met on Wednesday October 4th with an exciting announcement during public comment. Kerry, who brought Taco Fest to the Village this past summer, announced that he will be having another festival this year on June 8. He suggested that the Village use the event as a fundraiser for the village. Kerry suggested having visitors park in a distant place and charging vehicle owners to bus them to the site. He is expanding from 70 vendors to 100 and expects 5,000 visitors next year, up from 2,000 this year.

The firm in charge of the sewer lining has had two new engineers start and the IEPA approval for the sewer lining project has finally been submitted, so a tentative start date for the project is early November.

All oil and chipping has been completed for the year.

In old business, Marine Township said the ditch is on county right of way and they should pay for the rip rap. Madison County is saying it never has been and never will be their property. However, the Township said they will help the Village pay for it if they need help.

There were no reports from the Police or Water and Sewer committees.

An update was given on the digital message board at the park that is not working. Due to parts not being available, a staff member will have to take a laptop and plug it into the sign to update the information. Most likely a new sign will have to be purchased.

The next meeting will be held on October 18 at 7 pm in Village Hall.
