Ministries Unlimited holds annual fundraiser

TROY — During the holiday season there are many families that struggle not only to provide food for their families, but also to provide gifts for their children.

According to information provided, Ministries Unlimited and Triad Strong’s Help For The Holidays are working together to provide food and gifts for these families. Ministries Unlimited is a food pantry supported by local churches. The organization also provides food to families in need every few weeks including dairy, meat, non perishables etc. Ministries Unlimited also helps support the Summer Lunch Program.

“If you are able to drop off a gift card or canned items at the pantry, this will go a long way to make the holiday a little brighter for these families,” stated Kathy Scheller, Ministries Unlimited director of operations in the release. “We are also doing our annual fundraiser in order to provide services in 2024.”

Any monetary donations will go towards purchasing perishable items (meat, milk, eggs, etc.), non-perishable items (pasta, baked beans, tomatoes, etc.), supporting the Summer Lunch Program in Troy & St. Jacob, and the Lucille Schmalz Community Service Scholarship.

The fundraising goal for this year is $50,000. Whether a person donates $5 or $500, this will go towards feeding families in need in the coming year. They have currently raised $7,012 toward our goal. Scheller explained what raising $50,000 would mean for the food pantry.

“That means we will be able to actually keep food on the shelves all year round,” Scheller said.

Scheller said that the holidays can be a difficult time financially as she noted how many families have signed up for the Christmas boxes.

“Right now I don’t have a final count, but I have around 110 families for our Christmas boxes,” Scheller said.

Ministries Unlimited thanks the following families and businesses for their donations.Families: Wheeler, Lane, Ackerman, Jones, Zitka, Thomas, Taylor, Friederich, Caldwell/Taylor, Anonymous, Buchmiller, Gorsage, Deakos, Goodwin, Schrage. Businesses: Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors, ZX Gas, Casey’s, Fire-n-Smoke, Teklab Inc., Windoor Unlimited Inc., St. Jacob Automotive LLC, A & B Auto Body, Friedens United Church of Christ, F3 Soil, the release states.
