Reiniger named all-state for third time; selected to All-American game
by Mark Jurgena
Adam Reiniger’s Collinsville High School soccer career was…stellar.
This past week he was named to the IHSSCA All-State team for a remarkable third season in a row.
“Adam is a special kid both on and off the field,” said Collinsville coach Rob Lugge. “He has put his best effort into all things soccer and school and deserves all the recognition he has received. He is a role model for all future Kahoks.”
The IHSCAA honor comes after a senior season that saw him score 21 goals and add five assists. He had seven game-winners this past year.
Perhaps his best performance was in the SWC championship-clinching game against O’Fallon when he registered a hat trick to help beat the Panthers 5-2.
He had seen minimal time during the game due to a hamstring injury but came on in a big way during the two 10-minute extra sessions as he scored all three of his goals at that time.
As a junior, he had 23 goals and four assists with six game-winners for the SWC champs.
His sophomore season saw him score 18 goals with seven assets and five game-winners.
All-American game
Also last week he was invited to take part in the 2023 Bimbo Bakeries High School All-American Game on Dec. 9 in Charleston, S.C.
“It’s a pretty big deal…it does not mean he’ll make all-American, but still a big deal,” said Lugge. “Collinsville has never had anyone participate since I’ve been here.”
He will compete for the East All-Star team with players from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The game will be streamed at prepsoccer.com and topdrawersoccer.com.
