New Emergency Notification System Will Keep Glen Carbon Residents Informed

GLEN CARBON — The residents of Glen Carbon can now sign up to be notified in the event of an emergency in the Village or that may have an impact on the community. The system is part of a partnership with CivicPlus, the Village website provider, and is offered to all residents with a simple signup process.

Though no one ever wants to go through an emergency scenario, it can be very advantageous to know what is occurring and when the threat is over. This might include urgent notifications about threats to the community, weather-related emergencies or just a mass communication network to keep residents informed.

The messages can be sent through text messages, email and voicemail messages. Residents can choose their preference for notification and even restrict the information they will receive.   

Residents need to sign up for the notification system. This can be done through the Village website, www.glencarbonil.gov, then select Alerts and Notifications on the Your Community page.

For anyone who is not internet savvy or who does not have internet access, there will be several opportunities to sign up. The first will be Jan. 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Glen Carbon Senior and Community Center. You may also call Village Hall at 618-288-1200 for information on signup.
