TROY — The most recent victory for Triad softball came on their homefield in the form of an 11-1 drubbing of Breese Central.

Delaney Hess would pick up the short game victory for the Lady Knights in the Mar. 25 showdown. The junior hurler allowed just three hits in the victory.

The Lady Knight offense, which earned a 10-0 lead through four frames, was a balanced affair with six batters recording multiple RBI. Hess, Phoebe Feldman, Chloe Seger and Syd Horn all drove in multiple scores in the victory.

Their damage was also limited by short game rules, as they pulled ahead 11-1 in the bottom of the fifth.

Triad spent the rest of the week on the road to less desirable results.

On Mar. 27, the squad visited 5-1 Gillespie. The Miners only previous loss was a 2-1 decision to 4A powerhouse Edwardsville.

Gillespie defended their field in 11-0 fashion, while holding the Lady Knights to three hits. Miner ace Emma Gipson fanned 12 in the win.

The Lady Knights returned to play on Mar. 30, when they headed south for a doubleheader featuring Red Bud and hosted by Columbia. Triad’s day began against the also visiting Musketeers.

In their first action of the day, the Lady Knights fell short by a 4-3 final after scoring three in the top of the first.

Triad scored three in the top of the first against Columbia as well and went on to take a 7-3 lead through two and a half frames. This lead was ill-fated as well however, with the Lady Knights falling in an 11-10 final.
