TROY — Triad tennis faced off with a mix of teams throughout Illinois last week.

Their final week of March opened with a trip to Waterloo. There, the Knights knocked off their conference hosts by a 6-3 tally.

Ethan Stewart won in the top singles spot to headline a singles sweep that would feature wins from Joe Cass, Tate Moore, Jackson Naylor and Marek Schram. Stewart also picked up a victory in the top flight of doubles while working with Jameson Chacon.

The following day, the Knights would pick up another Mississippi Valley Conference win by dismantling Civic Memorial in an 8-1 match.

On Mar. 29, Triad would host Class 2A foe Jacobs.

In their test against the Golden Eagles, the hosts fell in a 3-2 tally. The Knight victories came from Cass atop the singles division and the duo of Schram and Naylor in doubles play.

Later that afternoon, Triad would open play in the Edwardsville Invitational. The Knights competed in the Challengers I Division of the event alongside Centralia, Francis Howell North, Glenwood, Herrin, Mascoutah. Metamora and Normal.

In their first action of the bracket, Triad knocked off Centralia in a 6-3 decision. Stewart, Cass and Moore each won twice against the Orphans.

The following day, play continued for the Knights against Normal University. The Pioneers would take that semi-final match by a 5-4 margin.

Triad would rebound in the consolation final for a 2-2 result against Metamora. Cass and Stewart provided the Knight victories in that affair.
