MARYVILLE — The Maryville Kiwanis Club will hold their annual fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Fireman’s Park site will feature activities for the whole family. The event continues to be a draw for people of all ages.
Pony rides will be sponsored by Maryville Ministerial Alliance and a petting zoo is sponsored by Allison Bash State Farm. The first 500 children will be given a free pumpkin compliment of Mayor Craig Short. Added to the prize will be decorating kits.
Other attractions will include bounce houses, a firefighter’s open house and face painting sponsored by the Barry Wilson Funeral Home and First National Bank of Waterloo. There will also be games and crafts for the children sponsored by local churches and other community organizations.
Always a favorite, the Maryville Parks and Recreation Committee will sponsor the fifth annual “Bark in the Park.” Owners are encouraged to bring their dogs (friendly with other dogs and on leash) in costume for a judging and a chance to win great doggie prizes.
Maryville Fire Department will also be hosting an open house that day. Children will have an opportunity to see fire engines and ambulances up close for Fire Prevention Month.
Kiwanis President Julie Clark and Secretary/Mayor Craig Short identify the Fall Festival as a great opportunity for family fun. “The only cost to attendees is food that is purchased if wanted,” said Clark. Food is provided through food trucks including Spud Shack, Edley’s Bar-b-que, Heaterz, and Cake Pop.
“With higher costs these days, some families just can’t afford to participate in lots of activities,” said Mayor Short. “This is a great opportunity for family-friendly, free fun.”
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the Maryville Fireman’s Park, 300 North Donk Avenue.
