Kahok girls track off to a running start

The girls track & field team is off and running for the indoor portion of their season.

Collinsville traveled to Marion for the Joe Elliott Early Indoor Girls meet at the HEC Building at Marion High School.

In the 200 meters, Kwanzaa Henderson of CHS finished in second with a time of 27.23 seconds and finished behind Sophia Schardan of Triad who ran a 26.78.

Henderson took fifth in the 60 meters with a time of 8.28 seconds while Schardan of Triad took first with a meet record time of 7.84 seconds.

Ellie Rhinehart had a third place finish for Collinsville in the shot put with a mark of 10.19 meters or 33’ 5 ¼”. Aeron John of Herrin was first with a mark of 10.19 meters or 35’ 9 ¼”.

Kahok Catalina Jimenez finished in seventh in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:26.61. Kara Odum of Marion was first at 12:27.11

Dariana Morris of Collinsville was ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with an 11.03 second time. Brenna Stearns of Marion won the event with a 9.93.

Collinsville’s 4×800 meter team of Sadie Demick, Danielle Cary, Natalie Heaton and Claire Garkie took the seventh spot with a time of 11:55.56. O’Fallon finished in first with a time of 10:30.50.

Collinsville’s 4×200 meter team took ninth place with a time of 2:01.80. The team consisted of Tafira Ferguson, Tramya Lewis, Camille Wilburn and Gabriella Askew. Marion won the relay with a time of 1:51.83.

The Kahoks finished in 10th place out of the 22 teams entered. They scored 22 points.

O’Fallon won the meet with 99.5 points while Marion scored 61 to place second.

Upcoming Schedule

The girls will be in the Jersey Winter Thaw at Principia College in Elsah on Saturday.
