HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital to open new outpatient infusion service
HIGHLAND — The HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland and the Highland Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting event for the newly opened Outpatient Infusion Services area on Sept. 9, from noon to 1 p.m. The department is located inside the outpatient surgery department at the hospital.
Attendees can tour the space and talk to specially trained infusion nurses and experienced clinical pharmacists about the wide range of infusion therapies offered at this accessible and close to home location. Refreshments will also be served.
The new infusion space offers a welcoming environment for patients and their families. Therapies offered include but not limited to:
- Chemotherapy and immunotherapy for cancer patients
- IV antibiotics and hydration therapy
- Blood products such as platelets and red blood cells (RBCs)
- Steroid infusions
- Other Injections/Infusions: Xolair, Epogen/Procrit, Neulesta, Granix, Allergy Serum
Other services available are insertion and maintenance for peripheral inserted central catheter (PICC) lines and urinary catheters, as well as port-a-cath access and maintenance.
