Collinsville Schools has one exemplary, eight commendable schools on 2025 Illinois Report Card
By Ray Popkess • The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released 2025 School Report Cards on Oct. 30. Each report card shows how school districts are progressing on a wide range of educational goals.
“Today, we celebrate the accomplishments of the past year while continuing to focus on growth and improvement,” said Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich. “We value the teamwork between home, school and our community that helps our students grow academically and socially from kindergarten through 12th grade. It’s also important to note we still have work to do as a district and that will be our continued focus moving forward.”
The 2025 Illinois Report Card (IRC) is a detailed look at student performance data from the 2024-25 school year.
This year’s IRC reflects new proficiency benchmarks for English language arts, math and science. This update provides a more accurate picture of student learning and readiness for college and career.
While these recalibrated benchmarks mean that 2025 proficiency rates should not be compared to prior years, state assessments and learning standards have not been altered. Importantly, student growth percentiles are not affected by this change, allowing continued tracking of school district performance and student progress over time.
One component of the School Report Card is the summative designation – a descriptor of how well a school is meeting the needs of all students. Illinois is required by federal accountability law to assign each school a descriptor of how well it is meeting the needs of its students.
Designations are based on academics, as well as school quality and student success indicators: English language arts (ELA) growth and proficiency, math growth and proficiency, science proficiency, English learner progress to proficiency, chronic absenteeism, climate survey and graduation rate (high school only).
ISBE’s annual summative designations recognize schools with strong overall performance across a range of academic and student success indicators, and identify schools with the greatest need for additional support.
2025 Illinois Report Card Summative Designations for Collinsville Schools
EXEMPLARY: Webster Elementary School
COMMENDABLE: Caseyville Elementary School, Collinsville High School, Dorris Intermediate School, Kreitner Elementary School, Maryville Elementary School, Renfro Elementary School, Summit Elementary School and Twin Echo Elementary School
TARGETED SUPPORT: Collinsville Middle School
The accountability depicted in the Illinois State Report Cards is relational to how schools across the state are performing. Target ranges for the various designations change as Illinois’ schools evolve. The 2025 report cards are a snapshot of how schools are meeting the needs of students compared to annual targets determined by ISBE.
A school designated with the Exemplary status means their growth was in the top 10% of the state. A school designated with Commendable status reflects a school that has no underperforming student groups, a graduation rate greater than 67%, and whose performance is not in the top 10% of schools statewide. A Targeted Support designation initiates targeted school improvement status and the school begins a four-year cycle of school improvement.
