Glen Carbon to host 100th Annual Homecoming
By Kathy Turner• For the 100th time, Glen Carbon will host its homecoming over the Fathers’ Day weekend, June 19 and 20. The event opens at 5 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
There are lots of exciting things planned for the celebration and everyone is invited to participate. The parade on Saturday kicks off at 5 p.m. and the village is looking for participants. The entries are open to groups, businesses, organizations or individuals. Visit the village website, www.glencarbonil.gov, to find the entry form.
The carnival will feature food and beverages by local vendors and groups. There will be carnival rides for the kids with pre-sale tickets available on June 15. There will also be a special $1 ride ticket for the 100th anniversary on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Live music this year will be provided by the Well Hungarians on Friday night starting at 7 p.m. Matt Heaton will perform from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday followed by Just in Time at 7:30 p.m.
The weekend will end with a Saturday night fireworks show at approximately 9:30 p.m.
