Richeson fails to attend his fraud trial on June 8

By Charles Bolinger

Editor • After nearly six months of anticipation, former funeral director Guideon Richeson was a no-show at his fraud trial in Edwardsville on June 8.

Kwame Raoul’s office, which originally brought charges against Richeon, 10 counts of income tax fraud and one count of failure to keep books and records, has not commented on the charges or the case, which has been delayed three times since January.

Richeson owns Richeson, Aebischer-Richeson Funeral homes in Troy and St. Jacob, although according to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, he has not renewed his funeral director’s license in 25 years.

He is also a former Village of St. Jacob Trustee, until the above charges were brought forward last year and it was found that he does not live within the village; his primary residence was in unincorporated St. Louis County, near Florissant, Missouri.
