MCT service changes begin July 12

New MCT Micro – Troy | Maryville service launches July 13

By Tribune Staff • Madison County Transit (MCT) will implement its July Service Change beginning Sunday, July 12. The changes include: the launch of a new MCT Micro service area in Troy, Maryville and Glen Carbon area, which will replace the #13 Troy-Glen Carbon fixed route; as well as adjustments to the #9 Washington Shuttle, #1X Riverbend Express and #16X Edwardsville-Glen Carbon Express.

Before the changes were approved, MCT held six public meetings and accepted comments from passengers and members of the public by email, phone and mail. The final service plan includes adjustments made in response to public feedback.

“These changes allow MCT to better match service with how passengers are using the system while introducing a more flexible transportation option in Troy, Maryville and parts of Glen Carbon,” said MCT Managing Director SJ Morrison. “We encourage passengers who use the affected routes to review the new timetables and service information before July 12.”

New MCT Micro – Troy | Maryville

Beginning Monday, July 13, MCT will launch a new on-demand transportation service in Troy, Maryville and designated areas of Glen Carbon. The new MCT Micro Troy | Maryville will replace the #13 Troy-Glen Carbon fixed route and expand service to Saturdays. Passengers who use the #13 should begin using MCT Micro for trips within the new service zone, beginning July 13. A service area map identifying the zone, including designated locations in Glen Carbon, is available at MCT.org/Micro.

The new service will operate:

Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Passengers can request a ride using the free MCT Micro mobile app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. After creating an account, riders enter their pick-up and drop-off information and select “Request Ride.” The app provides an estimated pick-up time and allows passengers to monitor the vehicle’s arrival. Rides may be requested immediately or scheduled in advance.

Passengers who do not have a smartphone can request a ride by calling 618-797-INFO (4636). MCT Micro rides cost $1 and may be paid through the app or upon boarding using cash or an accepted MCT or Metro fare product.
