Sharon Sue Finke

July 30, 1942 – July 4, 2026

Sharon Sue Finke passed from this life to the next on July 4, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, surrounded by her loving family. Sharon was born on July 30, 1942, to Benjamin and Wilma Sorenson in E. St. Louis, Illinois. She was a graduate of Madison High School in Madison, Illinois.

Sharon met the love of her life, Robert Finke, during their high school days. They were wed on March 8, 1960, and raised their family in Granite City, Illinois. The Finke’s union brought forth four children, Robert, Jr.; David; John and Christine.

Sharon committed her life to caring for others. She was a registered nurse and worked in various medical facilities in the Granite City and St. Louis areas, touching the lives of many with her medical skills and her great compassion.

In addition to being predeceased by her parents and husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her son, John Finke. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert (Jane) Finke, David Finke and Christine (Don) McClarin, and her devoted daughter-in-law, Sherri Finke. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, who meant the world to her: Kyle Snell, Curtis (Keely) McClarin, Cori McClarin, Abigail (Clayton) Hubert, Clayton Snell, Gabrielle (Eric) Crosby, Samantha Finke, and Shena Brock. Sharon also leaves behind six great-grandchildren (plus two expected), and a great-great-granddaughter. Even in her last days, Sharon was known to play and frolic with the little ones, who brought her endless joy and laughter.

A private graveside memorial is being planned to honor Sharon’s life, as she is laid to rest next to her departed husband at St. John’s Cemetery in Granite City, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, please visit Alzheimer’s Association (donorservices.alz.org) to make contributions to Alzheimer’s research in Sharon’s honor.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.vacremationsociety.com.
