Troy’s planning commission adopts 2024 Illinois energy conservation code

By Charles Bolinger

Editor • The first of three public hearings on July 9 ahead of the regularly scheduled Troy Planning Commission meeting was a short one.

Ann Byrd, the city’s building and zoning director said that two years ago, city officials updated the Illinois Energy Conservation Code to 2021 ICC.

“However, the state is now mandating that we [upgrade] to the 2024 energy code for ICC,” she told the commissioners.

The commissioners approved the ordinance 7-0. It will go to the full city council for action at either the July 20 or Aug. 3 city council meeting. The next planning commission meeting will be Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in city hall, 116 E. Market St.
