For the second year in a row, the Triad junior varsity hockey Knights won their Mississippi Valley Club Hockey Association division title.
This year, the Knights defeated East Alton-Wood River in a best-of-three championship series. Triad took the series by winning both of the first two games.
Game one of the series took place on Tuesday, February 19 when the Knights beat the Oilers 5-4 in a shootout at the East Alton Ice Areana.
The two teams were tied at 4-4 at the end of regulation play. Triad’s four goals were evenly divided between Jake Parres, Jordan Lewis, Drew Watts and Jake Blaylock.
Daniel Verhaar and Jordan Lewis scored in the shoot-out and Logan Kimmick stopped both of the Oilers’ shooters, giving Triad the win.
Game two was a 7-1 victory for the Knights at the McKendree Metro Plex.
Ethan McFarland scored a hat trick in the game, while Elliot McAtee picked up two lamplighters. Dylan Sedlak and Jake Blaylock each had a goal in the game for the Knights
