Collinsville Cross Country Shows Well at Troy

On September 29th, the Collinsville cross country teams made the short trip to Troy to compete in the annual Triad Invitational.
The boys took home a 4th place finish out of 15 teams. They scored 135 points to finish four ahead of Civic Memorial. Marion won the team title with 66 points.
Kahok Trey Peterson took 6th place with a time of 16:59.90 on the three-mile course.
However, the soccer player/cross country runner could not get close to Carbondale’s Alex Partlow. The Terrier harrier finished with a blistering time of 15:36.78 to beat 155 other runners. He finished 1:02 ahead of 2nd place finisher Jackson Collman of CM.
CHS got a 14th place finish from Brock Cunningham. He ran a 17:44.06.
The other Kahok soccer/xc athlete, Andrew Gonski, ran an 18:17.74 good for 25th place.
Alejandro Mendoza and Evan Heintz finished 49th and 50th. Mendoza’s 19:21.01 was 1.66 seconds faster than Heintz.
Laurentino Martinez ran a 21:33.04 for the 86th spot while Dylan Meek placed 92nd with a 21:29.11.
For the girls, they placed tenth at Triad with 255 points only three behind Belleville West for ninth.
Waterloo took home the team title with 25 points and the individual title as Angelina Kanyuck came in at 19:19.57.
Freshman Selah Hart was the top Kahok to finish. She did so in 22:59.12. Her times gave her the 26th spot among 166 entrants.
Kassidy Rea was the next CHS finisher at 24:04.6 while Audrey Cummins placed in the 66th spot with a 26:17.63.
Colleen Zinke finished 71st with a 27:14.74 and Morgan Laing finished 85th with a 28:20.79.
Emily Flores placed 99th and Leslie Rivera came in 104th.
