Maryville Buys Fire Gear, Replaces Water Softeners

The Maryville Village Board purchased five sets of firefighter turnout gear and some replacement meters for the softeners at the water plant at its Wednesday, October 6 meeting.
The gear is from Banner Fire Equipment, Inc. and costs $9,995.
The replacement meters for the water plant softeners and bypass were bought from Vandevanter Engineering at a cost of $17,350.
Mayor Craig Short read a letter from Shane Fulton resigning from the Zoning Board of Appeals.
The board made a presentation to the September Yard of the Month winners, Thomas and Sherry Sloger and, in absentia, to the 2021 Business Landscaping of the Year winner, Osborn Properties.
In other action, the board rezoned property at 2822 North Center Street from agricultural (A)_to community business (B-1) and annexed properties at 2728 Maryville Road in Maryville and at 5501 Old Camp Graham Road in Collinsville.
During the month of September, the village of Maryville issued 16 building permits at a cost of $5,479.14 and a valuation of $1,616,000, according to the monthly Building and Zoning report. The fire department had 135 responses including 116 EMS calls, nine alarms, three structure fires and two motor vehicle crashes, according to a report from Chief George May. The police responded to 501 calls for service, issued 31 citations and filed 12 accident reports, according to Police Chief Rob Carpenter.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall.
