The newest Schlafly Brewpub opened December 22 on the Square in Highland. The Schlafly’s settled in Highland when they first came to America in the  early 1800s.

Originally built as a First National Bank, the Brewpub boasts many original features, including the floor, rectangular lights in the dining area, plaster and crown molding, and the safe.

The pub seats 150 guests on the main floor and also has a patio. Upstairs, small batches  (two kegs at a time) of beer unique to the Highland location will be brewed.

If a trial flavor goes over well in Highland, the recipe will then go to the downtown St. Louis Tap Room  where it can be brewed 15 barrels at a time.

The food menu will pay homage to its Swiss and German roots.

Head of Marketing Wil Rogers said “we’re just happy to be a part of the Square and the community.

The pub is located at 907 Main St. next to the new City Square Park. Hours of operation are  Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. until 10 .m. Sunday 11 a.m to 8 p.m. and closed on Tuesdays.
