Details for 2022 Glen Carbon Homecoming Continue with Board

By Kathy Turner

The Glen Carbon Village Board on Tuesday, March 22, approved another aspect of the 2022 Homecoming by authorizing a contract with Final Lap Race Management.  Final Lap will provide the management of the Covered Bridge 5K at the event.  The homecoming is scheduled for June 17 and 18.  Anyone interested in a booth rental should visit the Village website for appropriate forms.

In other business, the Board took two actions relative to the Madison County Discovery Enterprise Zone.  The first was the approval to amend and expand the Village’s territory in the Enterprise Zone.  The Madison County Enterprise Zone is an area designated by the State of Illinois, Madison County, and other municipalities to provide special tax incentives to encourage businesses to locate, expand and retain their operations in the enterprise zone.

The enterprise zone, which is comprised of portions of the County, the City of Highland, the City of Troy, the Village of St. Jacob, and the Village of Maryville as well as Glen Carbon, was expanded slightly in each of the municipalities and required an ordinance recognizing those slight changes in boundaries.

The Board also approved an amendment to the intergovernmental agreement between the county and the municipalities relative to the Discovery Enterprise Zone.

As part of their action on March 22, the Board approved a new lease agreement for the Village copy machines with Watts Copy Systems.

They also approved an RFP for asset management and a full-service maintenance program for the elevated water storage tanks.   Once bids are received the Board will identify the company to provide the management and maintenance.

Finally, the Board approved a Final Site Plan for Brown Mortgage Group on a recommendation of Stacy Jose, Building and Zoning Administrator.

The board will next meet on Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m.
